Uri Geller, spoon-bender, buys an island

CELEBRITY 'psychic' and all-round spoon-bending oddball Uri Geller has bought a Scottish island with links to Arthurian legend.

The TV presenter said he was "thrilled" at his £30,000 purchase of Lamb Island, a volcanic outcrop in the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh.

It is one of three islands whose layout mirrors that of the Egyptian pyramids at Giza, earning them the title "Great Pyramids of Scotland".

The islands are recorded in folklore and are said to have links to King Arthur, Robert the Bruce and to the ancient Kings of Ireland.

Lamb Island is also a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest with a colony of seabirds.

AMY Winehouse may not have been seen for a while, but when that girl makes an appearance, she certainly makes it memorable….

The Rehab singer stepped out in the early hours amid chaotic scenes where she slapped a passerby, threw a pint glass at a photographer and legged it in a bid to get away from her minders.

Amy, 24, turned up at the Hawley Arms fundraiser last night at Dingwalls in Camden at 1am but she more than made up for lost time.

There to play a DJ set at the event hosted by Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding, the songstress arrived with a mini entourage – including her 12-year-old goddaughter Dionne Bromfield – and when asked how she was, told theBuzz: “I’m fine.”

Approaching the DJ booth, a fake-tanned Amy was less than pleased by overenthusiastic fans trying to get close to her and lashed out at one drunken woman.

When one fellow Hawley Arms supporter tried to hug her, Amy responded with her fists and repeatedly tried to punch the man as security tried to stop her and led her outside.

Madonna's bro: "Guy and I can't be friends"

Madonna and Guy Ritchie's marriage is on the rocks because the ambitious couople compete with one another, the pop star's brother claimed today.

Christopher Ciccone accused film director Ritchie, 39, of being uncomfortable with his wife's once close relationship with her brother.

Promoting a new book on the singer, he told GMTV his sister’s marriage was “not as good as (it) could be”.

“Her career continues its gentle glide up but Guy's has gotten a little bit stale”, he said.

Ciccone also said that he thought being married to Madonna, 49, would be "next to impossible".

Speaking about her relationship with the Ritchie he said: “They are two very ambitious and creative people competing."

Grieving Lily's back to black

Popstar Lily Allen has gone back to black, ditching her shocking pink tresses – out of respect for her beloved nan.

While the singer admits she was getting "bored" of the head-turning locks, the real reason behind the makeover is sentimental. Her grandmother died recently and she did not want to attend the funeral with pink hair.

At what must be an emotional time for the singer, she has also turned her attention to London’s growing knife-crime crisis. Lily has pleaded with Mayor Boris Johnson for a chat, and has suggested organising a concert to raise awareness on the issue.

Lily, 23, said: "It has been a tough week. My nan passed away last weekend. We were close and even though she had been very ill for the last few years , it was a big shock, and surreal to find out at Glastonbury."

She adds: "My nan would have killed me if I went to her funeral with pink hair."

Speaking about the capital’s knife problems on her MySpace blog, she said: "Please can everyone stop stabbing each other. It’s really sad. We need to have a knife amnesty. We should put on a big concert to raise awareness and stop the violence. Boris, if you’re listening, call me."

Last night, I accidentally ended up ranting at my dinner companion about the huge conflict women have over body image.

On the one hand, you have size 16 Miss England entrant Chloe Marshall, and the anti-size 0 brigade going "skinny women are evil, burn them in pits of Chanel and paraffin", and on the other you have the fashion crews who complain if you gain an inch on your hips. To 35 inches.

So sing hurray for something sensible on the subject, while simultaneously appeasing our need for gossip and behind the scenes goodness...
