Jade cancer diary planned

Jade: Life through a lens

JADE GOODY's cancer-diary will be revealed in a new book, it was announced today.

Publishers HarperCollins described the book, Forever in My Heart, as a "modern day parable" outlining her battle through the last months of her life.

The 27-year-old reality TV star left hospital last week to spend her last days at home with her family.

Her husband Jack Tweed and mother Jackiey Budden were seen at her home in Essex throughout the day.

In a statement, HarperCollins said the former Big Brother contestant had characterised the book as a "love letter" to her two young sons, Bobby and Freddy.

Belinda Budge, the managing director of HarperNon-Fiction said: "This is Jade in her own words.

"It is impossible not to be moved by her heart-warming voice which comes through loud and clear on every page of this last diary.

"This emotional book tells a fascinating story of our time, a story of a woman who rose to fame as a controversial reality TV star and has now won admiration in the eyes of many for the fortitude with which she is facing terminal cancer."

Winslet clear Oscar favourite as bets flood in

Kate-winslet-300

KATE Winslet has attracted 10 times more money than her nearest rival in the betting for the best actress Oscar, it was announced today.

The 33-year-old Brit has already won both a Golden Globe and Critics' Choice award for best supporting actress for The Reader, in which she plays a Nazi concentration camp guard who has an affair with a teenager.

Winslet also has a Bafta nomination for the part.

Bookmaker Ladbrokes has moved her Oscar odds from 5/4 to even money as backers have flooded in.

Her closest competitors appear to be Anne Hathaway at 6/4 and Meryl Streep at 5/1, with outsiders Angelina Jolie at 12/1 and Melissa Leo at 14/1.

Spokesman Robin Hutchison said: "We have seen bits and bobs for Hathaway and Jolie but Winslet is the one they all want to be with at the moment.

"Patriotic plunges on Oscar night can be bad news for the bookies and this looks like it could be a disaster."

It is believed a victory for Winslet could cost bookmakers as much as Helen Mirren did when The Queen was successful in 2006.

Mickey Rourke is now 4/5 from evens to claim the best actor gong after he also came in for strong support.

The Oscars take place on 22 February.

Review: Bye George

****

Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank

It seems an odd criticism of Bye George, this comedy farewell to the now former US president, but for much of the first half this show didn't have enough material about George W Bush.Alistair-barrie-bye-george

Organised by Alistair Barrie (pictured) and human rights lawyer Clive Stafford-Smith's charity Reprieve, this was something of an all-star lineup; the great and good of right-on leftie comedy, from Rory Bremner to Mark Thomas via Marcus Brigstocke, all trod the boards to mourn the passing of the easiest comic target ever to occupy major political office.

However, despite the potential for cathartic and righteous anger, many seemed to take the opportunity to use their favourite why-we're-different-from-the-Yanks gags, or just whatever new material they wanted to try out. Bremner, for instance, managed somehow to shoehorn a David Blunkett impression in, which must have left the sizeable American contingent in the audience nonplussed.

X Factor is 'bear-baiting'

Former X Factor winner Steve Brookstein (remember him? Think very hard back to the first X Factor in 2004) has attacked the show as a human form of 'bear-baiting.'

He made his comments after girl group Bad Lashes became the first act to be voted off the ITV talent show.

He said: "It's sad that there are going to be people who are going to be publicly humiliated. It is a form of bear-baiting.

"People shouldn't call in and they shouldn't waste their money."

Bad Lashes were cast out after a puiblic vote and after going head-to-head with another girl band called, erm, Girlband.

"I thought they were both shocking," said judge Simon Cowell.

The remaining 11 finalists will sing again next Saturday.

Susannah doesn’t just undress the nation

TrinnyboobSUSANNAH Constantine - as in one half of Trinny and Susannah - decided to give some hospice patients a treat after flashing her cleavage at a charity event hosted by the duo.

During one of those tantalising underwear discussions, the 46-year-old style advisor unbuttoned her dress and exposed her lacy blue bra during visit to terminally ill patients at Princess Alice Hospice in Surrey.

The chat was part of their ‘Look good, feel great’ promotion.

The exhibitionists need no encouraging and it would seem there is no limit, location or situation that prevents them managing to flash a bit of flesh.

Just last week Susannah was caught on stage in Dublin wearing not much more than a pair of control pants.

Ladies, please, give it a rest.
