Angelina Jolie cries tears for mother
ANGELINA Jolie wept as she paid tribute to her late mother in front of scores of people in a rare public show of emotion.
The Hollywood actress fought back tears as she revealed she had based her portrayal of a mother in her latest film on her own experiences.
The Oscar-winning actress’ mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died in January 2007 shortly began filming The Changeling in which she plays a mother in 1920s Los Angeles whose son is kidnapped.
Jolie said: “Her name was Marcheline, but we used to call her Marshmallow, as a joke, because she was just the softest, most gentle woman in the world.
“She was really sweet and was never angry - she couldn't swear to save her life. But when it came to her kids, she was really fierce and so this (film) is very much her, her story.
“She was the woman I related to, who had that elegance and strength for knowing what was right.”
Angelina and her partner Brad Pitt flew in to London from the U.S. to the capital this week to promote her latest film.
And onlookers said the strain of their busy schedule and roles as parents to six children seemed to be getting to the glamorous mother who looked visibly tired.
The 33-year-old looked exhausted and preoccupied as she posed for pictures and answered questions but hinted “sure” when asked if she panned to make her family bigger.
During a press conference to promote the film Jolie hinted she may put her acting career on the back burner and
continue expanding her family.
Looking more cheery in an interview on GMTV this morning she told host Fiona Philips she gave a rare insight to life as one of showbusiness’ hottest couples.
Talking about times when her fame and family life cross paths, Jolie said: “The only time it ever collides is if, you know, we’re trying to get ready for some event where we have to walk a carpet and somebody gets peed on, and figures, ‘Oh well, I guess we’ll be wearing that this evening’”
Asked if she has plans to marry Pitt she said: “We jumped into being a family first, and that just seems like the biggest commitment you could possibly make anyway. So, it doesn’t feel like anything is lacking.”
