Coldplay sweep up at Q Awards

ChrismartinCOLDPLAY were crowned Best act in the world today at this afternoons Q Awards.

It was the first of two awards for Chris Martin and the band, who also won the best album gong at the perennially boozy event at the Grosvenor House Hotel.

Alex Turner was also celebrating as his band the Last Shadow Puppets beat off competition from The Ting Tings and Glasvegas to pick up the best new act award.

Duffy won the breakthrough prize and the Kaiser Chiefs were annointed the best live act. It was also a day for the oldies, as Meatloaf, Adam Ant and Grace Jones all collected gongs, while the legendary Stevie Wonder was hailed as the Q Hero of the year.
