In possibly their most surreal roles yet, James McAvoy and Emily Blunt are being linked up to play a pair of star-crossed garden statues in animated movie Gnomeo and Juliet.
The tale, loosely based on Shakespeare’s play, would see the pair voicing the parts of loved-up gnomes from rival gardens.
Juliet’s role was originally set to be filled by Kate Winslet, but the Oscar-winning actress had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts.
The film, from Miramax and Elton John's Rocket Pictures, is set to feature several classic tunes by the musician as well as new tracks.
Shrek 2 co-director Kelly Asbury will take charge of the production, which should hit cinemas some time in 2010.
