Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding has axed the comedy duo’s self-titled festival after just one show, admitting what everyone else knew, saying: "It was s***."
The event at The Hop Farm in Paddock Wood, Kent, earlier this month was billed as a mixture of comedy acts and featured bands, such as The Charlatans and The Kills – Kate Moss’s boyfriend Jamie Hince’s band.
But it was panned by critics and revellers alike.
Talking about the first ever – and last – Mighty Boosh Festival, the quirky funny man revealed to theBuzz last night: "It was s***, so no, there won’t be another!"
Noel, 35, who makes up The Mighty Boosh with co-star Julian Barratt, took to the stage with their band to entertain fans as the headline act. But the run-up to the one-day festival was not without a few hiccups.
Slow sales reportedly resulted in Noel himself carrying around flyers to get rid of the 30,000 tickets.
The day itself received poor reviews, with festival-goers generally baffled by the odd line-up which saw the chubby American singer Har Mar Superstar take second billing.
Despite being dubbed a comedy festival, the acts on the main stage were bands while comics such as Ross Noble were sidelined to a smaller tent. There was also criticism of Noel’s singing.
The comic spoke to us at Mini Trekstock in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust at Highgate’s the Boogaloo bar, where the snazzy dresser did a DJ set after a performance by Coco Sumner.
Noel was on top form, joined by his girlfriend Dee Plume.
Luckily, he hasn’t been put off festivals for good."We’re doing The Big Chill next month and really looking forward to it," he said.
Let’s hope this one leaves a better impression on Noel...

Panned by critics and fans? I think not. If you were at the festival you'll know that it was certainly not a flop and there were no 'bemused' fans wandering about the place. Just excited fans who had an absolute ball.
