Popstar Lily Allen has gone back to black, ditching her shocking pink tresses – out of respect for her beloved nan.
While the singer admits she was getting "bored" of the head-turning locks, the real reason behind the makeover is sentimental. Her grandmother died recently and she did not want to attend the funeral with pink hair.
At what must be an emotional time for the singer, she has also turned her attention to London’s growing knife-crime crisis. Lily has pleaded with Mayor Boris Johnson for a chat, and has suggested organising a concert to raise awareness on the issue.
Lily, 23, said: "It has been a tough week. My nan passed away last weekend. We were close and even though she had been very ill for the last few years , it was a big shock, and surreal to find out at Glastonbury."
She adds: "My nan would have killed me if I went to her funeral with pink hair."
Speaking about the capital’s knife problems on her MySpace blog, she said: "Please can everyone stop stabbing each other. It’s really sad. We need to have a knife amnesty. We should put on a big concert to raise awareness and stop the violence. Boris, if you’re listening, call me."
The singer has also sent out a warning to burglars after advertising a new panic alarm.
She said: "Don't get too excited burlgars, I've got metal roller blinds that go down at night and a panic buttom by my bed, no panic room though."
Stepping out of a Notting Hill salon yesterday, Lily looked slightly camera-shy, holding up a hairdryer in front of her face – but we think the new ’do looks great.
Despite her revelations, the LDN songstress made no mention on her blog about her relationship with her ex, Chemical Brother Ed Simmons. Reports of a rekindled romance are surfacing, as both Lily and Ed have changed their Facebook profiles to "in a relationship".
