Little Britain star Matt Lucas and his partner have split just 18 months after getting “married” in a civil partnership ceremony.
Lucas and TV producer Kevin McGee, who were together three years, described the break-up as “amicable”.
The couple held a panto-themed reception at a 17th-century palace after the ceremony in December 2006.
Guests at the Banqueting House bash in Whitehall included Sir Elton John, dressed as Captain Hook, his husband David Furnish, Courtney Love and TV presenter Graham Norton.
The couple hosted the party dressed as Aladdin and Prince Charming.
Other guests included Paul O’Grady, another Captain Hook, and EastEnders actor Steve McFadden who turned up as the Demon Prince accompanied by Barbara Windsor as the Fairy Godmother.
A joint statement from legal representatives Mishcon de Reya and Withers LLP today said: “It is with sadness that Matt and Kevin announce their relationship has come to an end.”
Friends says the couple began to drift apart earlier this year. A pal of the couple said at the time: “Matt and Kevin are closer than close and this is a worrying time.”
