Claudia slams "quick-buck" models
These days it seems as if every model and their mother is jumping on to the bandwagon to design their own clothes.
But supermodel Claudia Schiffer won’t be following in the footsteps of Kate Moss or Elle Macpherson any time soon, refusing to make what she describes as “a quick buck”.
The mother-of-two made her scathing comments at the Graduate Fashion Week gala show and awards ceremony at Earls Court.
She told theBuzz: “For me, it’s not really about making a quick buck. I’ve had loads of offers from people wanting to attach my name to something.
But I’ve worked really hard over the past 20 years to make a name for myself.
“I may be interested in creating a fashion or couture house, but it has to be great fashion. I love it too much.”
The stunning 37-year-old presented an award at the prestigious event and was on the judging panel. Claudia admitted she was “amazed” by some of the designs.
On the antics of up-and-coming models, Germany-born Claudia wasn’t so keen. Commenting on the likes of Agyness Deyn and Daisy Lowe, often snapped at London’s top clubs and bars, she said: “There’s not one way to reach for success – if you look at all the supermodels, everyone has done it their own way.
“But you have to stay focused and, if partying doesn’t affect your work, that’s fine. If you’re turning up to shoots tired, it has to stop.”
Claudia continued: “Modelling is a profession. If you’re going to do it, have the right attitude.”
