Urgh! Someone pass the sick bucket.
Leona Lewis launched her publicity assault on America at a stomach-churning gush-fest with Simon Cowell on The Oprah Winfrey Show last night.
How did she cope? Read on...
After performing hit single Bleeding Love, the 22-year-old joined Cowell and Oprah for a mutual appreciation session.
As she left the stage, Oprah gushed “a star is born” before asking the audience: “couldn’t you feel that?” And her admiration for the singer was not one-sided.
Before the show, Leona spoke of her excitement about meeting one of her idols.
She said eloquently: “I can’t believe it really, I’m like, ‘Oh my God’.”
And on being compared to “all the greats – Mariah and Whitney”, Lewis said: “They are so amazing and I could only hope to one day follow in their footsteps.”
Cowell then turned up the PR machine and said Leona “is one of the nicest people I have ever met in this business”.
Simon, meanwhile, did a bit for his own PR and belied his Mr Nasty image by giving a couple whose daughter is suffering from cancer £81,000 to pay off their mortgage.
