Ryan Reynolds and more join Hugh Jackman's Wolverine movie
An amazing day for X-Men fans everywhere: Ryan Reynolds, Black Eye Peas's Will.I.Am and Friday Night Lights (the telly version of the high school football film) regular, the awesomely named Taylor Kitsch have signed on to join Hugh Jackman in the forthcoming Wolverine movie.
Find out how bloody amazing and what characters they're playing after the jump! Clue: I'm so excited I might fall over.
And this is the reason why: THEY'RE BRINGING IN GAMBIT! I've got a poster of Gambit and Rogue on my bedroom wall at my parents house for God's sake - this is AMAZING news!
The X-movie producers have been trying and failing to bring Gambit into the fold for years. His mutant powers include telecharging stuff with kinetic energy (blah) but his actual superpowers include being a whizzo thief, being sarcastic as all hell and sexily New Orleans-y French. Plus he has the killer tragic romance with "Can't Touch This" Rogue. Check out the guy playing him!
Cooey.
Ryan Reynolds is playing Deadpool, a sarcasticer-than-thou mutant with healing abilities stemming from Wolverine's (ooh! Get that tie-in!) and several comic titles of his own. Will.I.Am gets John Wraith, a mutant with teleportational powers.
Not much is known beyond that as he's a newbie, but there are enough villains called Wraith, Something Like Wraith, Vaguely Like Wraith in the Marvel universe for him to be potentially very evil indeed.
Those guys will join Naomi Watt's other half Lief Schreiber, Danny Huston and Lynn Collins (who she?) as Sabretooth, Colonel William Stryker (last seen being evil personified played by Brian Cox in X2) and Silver Fox (left, slow-ageing Blackfoot Indian girl from Wolverine's past, c1910, not ageing lothario) respectively. If the comics are anything to go by, all the above are caught up in the Weapon X project that saw Wolvie getting his adamantium claws and having his memory wiped so expect some vengeance of the Extreme variety.
Useful geek tip: If you have the X-Men TV show ring tone and you get a phone call when you're in a comic shop, you will absolutely get 25% off. Trufact readers!

Wow, I didn't realize they were having Deadpool in this movie! That's awesome news! He's always cracked me up, I gotta say. Sounds like they're having an awesome variety of some of my favorite mutants. Should make for a great movie. :)
