I can't be bothered with Friday so am going home to sprawl across the sofa, watch Truly Madly Deeply and fall asleep in a soup tureen. Sweet. I'm also going to be listening to the first episode of The Brothers Faversham by the ridiculously good Victorian sketch comedy trio, The Penny Dreadfuls which kicks off on BBC7 at 11.30.
Classic comedy set in Days of Yore (viz, Victorian, Boer War, melodramatic letter writers) it's like Round The Horne and The Very World of Milton Jones had a child and locked it in a fancy dress shop for 150 years.
You can read more about them here in this handily placed interview that stops me from having to do any actual work this afternoon. I saw one of the shows being recorded and caught their Edinburgh show this summer and laughed so much I started to sound like a goose in distress.
As my favourite comedy troupe in an age, they were my tip for the paper's Top 30 Under 30 so it pleases me mightily that they're also the snappiest dressers. Try harder Agyness Deyn. It's all about dressing like Harry Flashman.
I take no responsibility in your not knowing who the Pennies are when they inevitably take over the world and replace bloody Little Britain as catchphrase dispensers. The show's just been commissioned for a second series - hurray - and if you do something retarded like fall asleep in a gutter you can catch it on Listen Again's Friday page from tomorrow til Thursday. Have an awesome weekend!
