I'm seeing these hunks (sans Bonham) tonight! And so is Paris Hilton.
Even though this is apparen
tly a one-off show I'm totally convinced that they'll reform and rock out around the world. in the future... that is if the price is right.
Back in 2003 I remember going to a studio in Chiswick to watch a screening of their double DVD packed full of remastered live footage (which went on to be the highest selling music DVD in America for three years running).
The DVD collated rare live footage, TV show performances and even bootlegged vids sourced from enterprising Zep fans.
Hearing Houses of the Holy blast through the surround sound sent my thighs quivering, so I have no idea what kind of effect they'll have on me tonight. If I squint, maybe I can pretend it's 1969 and they're not in fact as old as my folks!
Here they are in Denmark playing Dazed and Confused.
Sigh.
Did you hear about Kenneth Donnell? He forked out £83,000 for a pair of ticks for tonight's show at a the Children In Need charity auction. That's more than his family paid for their house in Johnstone near Glasgow and it's all the money he had saved up to spend on an Audi R8 Sports Car.
"I was gutted that I was not born in the 1960s and able to see Led Zeppelin in the 1970s like my dad,” said Donnell, 25.
“I am not loaded, but at least it’s going on charity to help other people, which is a lot better than the likes of me spending it on a car and just getting the enjoyment for myself.”
For his sake alone, I hope they kick ass tonight!
